- Pharmacists have been shown to enhance contraceptive access, increase overall utilization, and improve medication adherence. Understanding the differences between synthetic and newer ‘natural’ estrogens, types of progestins, dosing regimens, and its impact on contraceptive efficacy and side effects, can help support pharmacists at the point of care when initiating and managing COCs for contraceptive purposes.
