Description / Abstract
Globally, there has been a rise in STIs. The same is true for Canada. In particular, the rates of bacterial STIs have been rapidly increasing. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and infectious syphilis are again becoming a significant public health concern in Canadian provinces and territories. Given the limited public awareness of bacterial STIs and their potential health consequences, it is crucial for primary healthcare professionals to enhance their involvement in the prevention and management of these infections. This program will provide participants with practice-based guidance on educating, screening, diagnosing, treating and following up with at risk and/or diagnosed patients. The program will review a structured primary care framework that will help ensure a patient-centred approach to STI prevention and management.
