- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal (GI) disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain, altered bowel habits (such as constipation, diarrhea, or both), and bloating. The goal of IBS management is to improve symptoms related to IBS, prevent complications associated with less useful testing and treatment, and improve the patient’s quality of life. ? ?
