Description / Abstract: This course focuses on developing the knowledge and skills required by pharmacists to administer and manage intravenous therapy. The extensive interactive e-learning module explains differences between routes of administration and illustrates common venous access types, components of an IV administration setup, as well as possible IV complications. IV maintenance and venous access care are covered in depth, including how to maintain IV patency with step-by-step flushing and locking techniques, how to perform IV calculations, and how to administer IV medication and TPN. The live physical workshop and assessment will enable participants to practise and demonstrate their ability to administer IV therapy. THIS COURSE IS A MODULAR PROGRAM, WITH MODULES MAKING UP THE TOTAL 21.5 CEUS. PART I: E-LEARNING MODULE (12 CEUS), PART II: LIVE PHYSICAL WORKSHOP AND ASSESSMENT (9.5 CEUS)
