- Description / Abstract
- Smoking cessation remains one of the most impactful interventions in reducing morbidity and mortality, yet emerging alternative nicotine delivery systems (ANDS), such as e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches, have introduced complexities in cessation strategies. Additionally, updates in nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) dosing—including high-dose patches and rapid-acting formulations like sprays, gums, and lozenges—necessitate a revised approach to patient counselling and treatment optimization. This Continuing Health Education (CHE) program is designed to equip Canadian pharmacists with the latest evidence on tobacco cessation, alternative nicotine products, and personalized strategies. Through case-based learning and practical applications, participants will develop the confidence to navigate evolving cessation tools, effectively counsel patients, and tailor interventions to improve quit rates while addressing emerging trends in nicotine use.
